Warren Darcy is Professor of Music Theory at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, where for six years he served as Director of the Music Theory Division. He has published two books in his field: Wagner's “Das Rheingold” (Oxford: 1993); and Elements of Sonata Theory (Oxford: 2006), co-authored with James Hepokoski. Both books won the Society for Music Theory’s Wallace Berry Award (1995 and 2008 respectively). He has also lectured and published many articles on the music of Wagner, Bruckner, and Mahler.

Warren now devotes his non-teaching time to writing fiction. He recently completed his first novel, What Rough Beast, about an eighteenth-century serial killer who terrorizes twenty-first-century Edinburgh. He is currently working on his second novel.

Warren lives in Oberlin, Ohio with his wife Marsha and his West Highland white terrier Kiefer. He loves to travel, and he dotes upon ultra-gory horror movies. His favorite film director is Dario Argento.
