We are all familiar with Count Dracula and other famous blood-drinkers from books, movies and television. What about the modern day vampire culture? There are people all around us who live a normal life by day, but they behave differently at night..... Some of these people may even be your friends or neighbors!
Explore the possibility that there still are such things as vampires in our midst! They may drink blood to try to stay young, or use blood-play to reach sexual satisfaction. Some enjoy dressing in black/Gothic style clothing, and even participate in vampire role-playing games.

THE ORIGINAL "VAMPIRES"
About as far away from "sexy" as you can get, the Vampires of olden days included a variety of weird and gruesome creatures.
Long before Bram Stoker wrote "Dracula" the world was full of blood sucking entities. Known by different names--Strigoi, Vetala, Mullo, Empusa, Lamia, Pontianak, Bhuta, Upior, and many more including Nosferatu which means "undead." Folklore tales full of terror spread the beliefs of life-sucking, blood-drinking men and women--cursed, demonic beings. Superstitions about illness and death created panic amongst people who didn't understand that bacteria caused epidemics, not vampires.
Fear of strangers, fear of different beliefs, fear of death. More and more elaborate funeral rituals were performed to ensure the dead wouldn't rise from the grave as a vampire. Fortunately modern funeral rites don't include decapitation of the corpse and other incredible deeds, meant to insure our dearly departed really rest in peace...
