Nan Higginson, winner of the Phyllis Whitney Creative Writing Award, edited and contributed to several anthologies published by the Middle Country Library. As a journalist, she freelanced for Newsday and local publications. Higginson taught literary arts (including journalism) and social studies for twenty four years.
Originally from upstate New York, Nan is a country gal at heart. She's passionate about Native American issues, particularly the Iroquois. Her stories about teachers allow her to explore opposite personality traits such as professional woman versus wife and mother, and extrovert versus introvert.
