ABOUT THE AUTHOR Marianna Heusler is a native of Holyoke, Massachusetts. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a B.A. in English Literature and a minor in education. She's the author of over fifty short stories - her work has appeared in magazines such as Women's World, Mystery Time, Calliope, Futures, Writer's International Forum, and Orchard Press. Her novel "Buried in the Townhouse" from Pendulum Press was nominated for The Franklin Award. Heusler is the author of several young adult novels including "The Night the Penningtons Vanished" which was nominated for an Edgar as the best young adult novel of 2002. Her latest novel is "Murder at St. Poylcarp" from Hilliard & Harris. A member of Mystery Writers of America, Heusler has served on the National Board. She was co-founding editor of the chapter's newsletter "The New York Noose" and she helped to run the mentor program, organized a panel of editors and agents for the national symposium, chaired the young adult tea, served on the program committee, and chaired the membership and nominating committee of the New York Chapter. She has headed the National Kids Love a Mystery program and she was the chair of the Edgar committee to chose the best young adult mystery of 2004. She's also a member of Sisters in Crime and Children's book writers and illustrators. A teacher for over ten years, Heusler has also been a school librarian as well as an editorial assistant and reporter. She was a VISTA volunteer, and also volunteered at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital and the Fortune Society. Ten percent of her writing income is donated to the St. Jude Research Hospital. |
