REIKI
REDISCOVERED...
We can thank Dr. Mikao Usui, who
lived in Kyoto, Japan at the end of the nineteenth century, for the
rediscovery of what we now call Reiki. He went on a twenty-one day
personl quest in the mountains near Kyoto, hoping to learn the
healing methods of Christ and Buddha. He had an
amazing revelation--he received an energy attunement from the
Universe when a shining light from the sky entered his forehead--his
Third Eye Chakra. Ancient Buddhist writings showing the Reiki
symbols and mantras now made sense to Dr. Usui.
He possesed a great healing force, and used it to help many people.
One thing became quite apparent to Dr. Usui--a patient's own desire
to be healthy was instrumental in the healing process. They must ASK
to be healed--they must WANT to heal.
THE HEALING
TOUCH...
This healing force of light/life
energy works holistically on the body, mind and soul. It is not
necessary for the Reiki healing practitioner to place their hands
exactly on the part of the body that is injured or has an illness.
Reiki will flow from the healer through the recipient and go to
where it is most needed (though if a muscle is strained it
is fine to focus the hands on that part of the body
exclusively.) The healer can "feel" this energy flowing through
them, and will "know" it has gone where it is needed. They'll also
know when to move their hands to another area. There are
specific hand positions and placements most Reiki practitioners use
when giving a "general" overall treatment session. It is possible,
and also highly recommended, that the healer give themselves
regular Reiki energy! Reiki energy treatments open the body's
Chakras, and it is possible to use this energy to clear
blockages and re-energize specific Chakras.
LEVELS AND
ATTUNEMENTS...
To use Reiki healing, to become a
conduit for this Universal Life Energy, you must receive training
and your attunements from a trained Reiki Master/Teacher.
LEVEL ONE--In the First
Degree Reiki class students learn the history of Reiki, learn the
hand positions, and receive four attunement "energy transmissions."
The student can now conduct Universal Life Energy and heal
themselves and others. This is the most dramatic of the attunements
because the student's body must adjust to a higher vibrational level
in the upper four Chakras--the Heart, Throat, Third Eye and Crown
Chakras. After the class the student will notice their hands
"heating up" in preparation to transmit Universal
Energy!
LEVEL TWO--In the
Second Degree Reiki class the student's ability to heal others is
expanded to include "distance healing"--over space and even time.
This attunement further opens the Third Eye Chakra, and vibrational
levels are increased. The student is now shown the Reiki "healing
symbols" in order to use them for distance healing. Often Level Two
and Level Three attunements are done in the same
class.
LEVEL THREE--In the
Third Degree Reiki class the student earns the title of "Master."
The attunments raise the student's consciousness
and changes all areas of their life. There must be a high
degree of spiritual responsibility to strive for level three. Now
the healer is operating on a very high vibrational level, and should
always strive for personal growth on their path to perfection.
Though the Level Three healer is very powerful, they are not able to
pass on the attunements to others unless they've been given special
teacher training...
