• IMPORTANT - About bookstores - L&L Dreamspell offers bookstores and other resellers the maximum discount and returnability - THIS DOES NOT GUARANTEE BOOKSTORE PLACEMENT. Most Independent bookstores love to work with small presses and their authors. Most "chain" bookstores DO NOT - this means it is very difficult to get into the big box stores. We want you to be aware that if it is important for you to have your book on store shelves, then you'll need to find an agent and seek publication with a major New York Press and not a small press like L&L.
• Word count information: Short stories from 3000 to 9000 words, Novellas from 20,000 to 40,000 words, Young Adult novels 40,000 words and up, all other Novels 50,000 words and up.
• Submissions must be sent to this email box: Submissions@lldreamspell.com
• Use Microsoft Word and send us a Document file - single-spaced - Times New Roman 12 point size - NO photos please
• NEVER send your submission in the body of an email - it will be deleted and not read
• We want a sample of around 5000 words (this should be the first chapter or two, depending on your chapter length) - Also include a synopsis so we have an overview of the story
• Short story submissions should be the entire story - around 3000 to 9000 words
• Title your submission email with the genre you are submitting on the subject line (such as "Romance" or "Mystery" or "Thriller/Suspense")
• Cross-genre submissions are fine - label you submission with the dominant genre
• Simultaneous submissions are accepted - please tell us when you submit
• Non-Fiction submissions should include a table of contents along with the synopsis
• Check our Open Anthologies section to see what we need for short story submissions
• We are not accepting single author short story collections at this time
• Contracts vary by author - for a general overview see our Contract page
• Please polish your work before you submit - visit Author Help for some hints!
• We do not want writing done in the "present tense"
