ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Cynthia Baxter is the author of the "Reigning Cats and Dogs" series from Bantam Books. She's also writing a second series, which will be published concurrently with the first series beginning in 2008.

Under her real name, Cynthia Blair, she wrote thirteen works of contemporary women's fiction from Ballantine, and twenty-nine Young Adult novels from Fawcett Juniper and HarperCollins. Her thirteen book Pratt Twins series sold nearly one million copies, and several of the books were translated in other languages. Blair's other Young Adult works include the five book "Bubble-Gum Gang" Mystery Series, and several other stand alone books like Alaska Adventure.

Ms. Blair has spoken at national conventions of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), including its Assembly on Literature for Adolescents, and the International Reading Association. She's also given talks at schools and libraries on Long Island and New York City. She taught creative writing at Hofstra University, the Cape Cod Writer's Workshop, and Mohonk Mountain House. She is a past president of NY/Tri State Chapter of Sisters in Crime. Blair earned a B.A. in Economics from Bryn Mawr College and an M.S. from Sloan School of Management at M.I.T. After working in business for four years she decided she preferred pursuing her passion for writing!
