MINERALS--THE FOUNDATION OF LIFE...

Clear quartz crystals are minerals--minerals are the foundation for all life. Our physical bodies are made of minerals--we are a conglomeration of minerals that have "evolved!" Crystals are "specialized" forms of minerals. Quartz crystals are known by the name "SiO2"--that means one atom of silicon to two atoms of oxygen. A crystal is a group of atoms that came together in a unique pattern, with flat faces, and arranged in geometric patterns. The conditions on Earth 290 million years ago created the quartz crystals we collect today. The continents drifted, mountains grew, and sedimentary rock folded and cracked. The building blocks of quartz, rich with silica, flowed into open spaces. Heat and pressure formed veins and pockets, which then filled in with red clay soil, packed around the crystals. After millions of years of erosion the deep veins of crystals have re-surfaced, and we can now uncover these sparkling treasures. Crystals are amazing. Not only are they beautiful, but they are in perfect harmonious energy balance. They are neither taking in energy, nor giving off energy (this may be contrary to some crystal theories which imply that crystals "store up" and "give off" healing energy.) Crystals actually do work well for healing and Chakra clearing and balancing. They are a wonderful "tool" for healers. They "amplify" the healer's energy...

RESONANCE AND VIBRATION--What is going on, then, with quartz crystals? It is their power of "resonance?" Each crystal has it's own unique energy pattern--the "soul" of the crystal--just as we have a soul, and our own unique energy aura. It is the wonderful harmony we establish with a crystal, "resonating" together, that works the healing magic! Energy vibrations are emanating from our bodies, from our Chakras, our aura. Whether we are aware of it or not, our aura interacts with the aura energy of other people, and we are "attracted" to people with similar energy vibrations to our own. We are "attracted" to certain crystals for this same reason--we have a similar energy vibration pattern to those particular crystals. If you've ever shopped for crystals you may remember being drawn to a particular piece. You may have said "this one really gives off energy" as you handled it. What you experienced was a co-mingling of your energy vibration with a stone of similar energy resonance--you were in harmony with the crystal. PIEZOELECTRIC PROPERTIES--Perhaps the fact that quartz crystals have "piezoelectric" properties gave rise to the idea that they "store" energy. You can actually demonstrate this effect at home. Strike a piece of quartz crystal with a hammer (in a darkened room) --you will see a spark and momentary glow. You are "compressing" the crystal causing electrons to be released, and you see a flash of visible light and electricity. But the crystal immediately replaces it's "lost" electrons from the air around it, returning it to a state of perfect balance. This piezoelectric property is what makes quartz crystals useful in radio transmitters (as part of receivers and amplifiers.) But the quartz is only there to help control the radio's "frequency." You can't hold a piece of crystal up to your ear to hear a radio broadcast!
